Join us for the fourth Herne Hill Kids' Lit Festival! From Monday 30th January to Sunday 5th February, we'll be celebrating story telling with fun activities, readings, performances authors signings, and even a competition!

The programme for this year is packed with exciting events for schools and the general public. It features some of the leading names from across the children's book industry joining to speak and host activities, including Thiago De Moraes; Patrice Lawrence, MBE; Sam Sedgman; Gareth P. Jones; Cerrie Burnell and many more!

Storytelling Competition

Herne Hill Kids' Lit Fest is inviting you to enter their storytelling competition for the chance to win some amazing prizes!

Your story can take any form you like, whether it's writing, rapping, drawing, comic strip, drama, poetry, or anything else. The theme of this competition is 'ALL ABOARD!' - whatever that means to you! A new departure? A journey of discovery? A daydream that takes you somewhere imaginary? A camel ride? A piggy back? Perhaps your story will feature an epic train journey? Or maybe it will be a story about how you are feeling as you travel through different situations? Or it could be about a journey through time and space! It can be funny, an adventure, fantasy - anything you like.

There are three age categories for children to enter: 4-7 years, 8-11 years and 12+. First place will win a £25 book token, £15 for second place and £10 for third place. As an added bonus, the winner of each age group will also win a bundle of fantastic books for their school!

You can get more information on the competition and download the entry form here, or you can come down to our shop to pick up an entry form there.

Good luck! We can't wait to read your stories!
